Enrica Laura Santarcangelo was born in 1956 in Formicola (CE). She earned her degree in Medicine from the University of Pisa in 1980, followed by a degree-certificate from the Scuola Superiore di Studi Universitari e di Perfezionamento S. Anna, Pisa in 1981. She specialized in Medical Psychology at the University of Siena in 1985 and obtained her PhD in Anthropology, Anthropometry, and Physiology from the same university in 1989.

With a rich background in academia, Enrica Laura Santarcangelo has contributed significantly to both research and teaching. She served as an Assistant Professor of Physiology at the University of Pisa from 2005 to 2014 and was subsequently promoted to Associate Professor in 2015. In 2019, she achieved the prestigious position of Full Professor of Physiology. Her extensive experience also includes a private practice as a clinical psychologist from 1990 to 2005.
