Dr. Md. Hossain Ali (M.H. Ali) is a distinguished scientist and the Chief Scientific Officer at the Agricultural Engineering Division of the Bangladesh Institute of Nuclear Agriculture (BINA). With over 31 years of experience, he has significantly contributed to irrigation management, water resources, and agro-meteorology. Renowned for his innovative models and tools, Dr. Ali is a recipient of numerous prestigious awards, including the “Shudhachar Award 2022” and “Best Scientist Award 2016”. Education

Dr. Ali earned his Ph.D. in Irrigation & Water Management from Bangladesh Agricultural University in 2008, followed by a postdoctoral fellowship at the University Sains Malaysia in 2011. He holds an M.Engg.Sci. from the University of Melbourne (2000), an M.Sc. in Agricultural Engineering from Bangladesh Agricultural University (1990), and a B.Sc. (Hons) in Agricultural Engineering (1988). He excelled academically, securing a first-class distinction in his undergraduate studies. His secondary and higher secondary education were also marked by distinctions in science under the Dhaka Board.

Experience

Dr. Ali has 31 years of professional experience encompassing teaching, research, and administrative roles. He began as an Assistant General Manager at the Bangladesh Rural Electrification Board before joining BINA in 1994 as a Scientific Officer. Rising through ranks, he became Chief Scientific Officer in 2019. He served as a Visiting Senior Lecturer at the University Malaysia Pahang, teaching Engineering Economics and Environmental Engineering. Dr. Ali has led interdisciplinary research teams and supervised graduate students, contributing to advancements in agricultural engineering and water management.
