Dr. Xiao Ma, born on August 1, 1986, in the People’s Republic of China, is an associate professor in environmental engineering at Hubei Normal University. With a distinguished background in research and academia, he specializes in environmental pollutant mitigation, focusing on biochar-coal gangue composites and soil phosphorus transfer mechanisms. Dr. Ma is recognized for his dedication to sustainable environmental solutions and impactful research, contributing significantly to advancements in pollutant control technologies.
Profile
Education 🎓
Dr. Ma earned his Ph.D. in Environmental Engineering from Wuhan University of Technology in 2015, with his research focusing on phosphorus loss from agricultural sources. He also completed his M.S. in Environmental Engineering at Wuhan University of Technology in 2011, where he analyzed pollution loading in the Three Gorges Reservoir Area, and his B.E. in Environmental Engineering from Hubei Normal University in 2009.
Professional Experience 💼
Currently an Associate Professor at Hubei Normal University since December 2019, Dr. Ma previously held positions as a lecturer and director of the Teaching and Research Group for Environmental Engineering at the same institution. His expertise in environmental research has led him to develop significant academic and practical insights in his field, especially in sustainable pollutant control.
Research Interests 🔬
Dr. Ma’s research focuses on biochar-coal gangue composites and their regulatory effects on soil phosphate. He examines the interaction between biochar and soil minerals to reduce phosphorus transfer and improve heavy metal immobilization in polluted soils. His studies include laboratory and field tests to validate biochar’s potential for improving agricultural soil quality and mitigating environmental contaminants.
Honors and Awards 🏆
Dr. Ma has been recognized multiple times for his excellence in teaching and research, including the “Top Ten Outstanding Teachers” award at Hubei Normal University in 2020 and several “Excellent Teaching Awards” from 2016-2019. Additionally, he received the National Ph.D. Scholarship from China’s Ministry of Education in 2012 and various awards for his outstanding academic contributions.
