Dr. Mohamed Sayed Selim is an Egyptian academic and researcher specializing in organic chemistry and material science. With a Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from Ain Shams University, he has gained international recognition for his innovative work in polymers, nanocomposites, and environmentally friendly coatings. Currently an Associate Professor at the Egyptian Petroleum Research Institute, Dr. Selim has held postdoctoral positions at the Technical Institute of Physics and Chemistry (Chinese Academy of Sciences) and Guangdong University of Technology, China. Education
Dr. Mohamed Sayed Selim’s academic journey began with a B.Sc. in Special Chemistry (Grade: Excellence) from Menoufiya University (2006). He earned his M.Sc. in Organic Chemistry from Menoufiya University in 2012, where he focused on the synthesis and characterization of functional polymers for cement admixtures. His Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry was awarded by Ain Shams University in 2016, where he developed environmentally friendly nano-marine antifouling paints. Dr. Selim further honed his expertise with postdoctoral fellowships at prestigious institutions. From 2015 to 2016, he worked at the Technical Institute of Physics and Chemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences in Beijing, focusing on functional polymers and coatings. From 2018 to 2021, he conducted research at the Guangdong University of Technology in China, specializing in nanocomposite coatings. Most recently, he was awarded a Visiting Professor Scholarship at the National Institute for Materials Science (NIMS), Japan, in June 2024.

Dr. Mohamed Sayed Selim has over 15 years of professional experience in the fields of organic chemistry, polymer science, and material science. He began his career at the Chemistin Powder Coating Factory in Egypt (2008-2012), gaining hands-on experience in coating technologies. He then joined the Egyptian Petroleum Research Institute (EPRI), where he worked as a Chemistry Specialist (2012-2013) and an Assistant Researcher (2013-2015) in the Petroleum Application Department. From 2015 to 2016, he expanded his expertise internationally as a Postdoctoral Scholar at the Technical Institute of Physics and Chemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences. He continued his research at Guangdong University of Technology in China as a Postdoctoral Scholar (2018-2021), focusing on polymeric nanocomposites. Since 2021, Dr. Selim has been an Associate Professor at EPRI, where he specializes in surface protection and the synthesis of nanomaterials for various industrial applications, such as marine antifouling coatings.
