Tsegay Kahsay Gebrekidan, a distinguished environmental scientist, holds both MSc and BSc degrees in Environmental Science from Addis Ababa University and Wollega University, respectively. With over a decade of experience, Tsegay has extensively addressed environmental issues such as climate change, deforestation, and biodiversity loss. Currently, he serves as a lecturer and researcher in the Department of Environmental Science at Adigrat University, where he has significantly contributed to environmental education and research.
π Education
Tsegay’s academic journey began with a BSc in Environmental Science from Wollega University (2010-2013), followed by an MSc from Addis Ababa University (2016-2018). He has also received specialized training in various areas, including nature-based solutions for disaster resilience, ecosystem-based adaptation, and data analysis in R and R studio. His education has been further enriched by courses and training provided by UNEP, GIZ, IUCN, and other renowned institutions.

Tsegay has amassed over 10 years of professional experience in environmental science. His roles have ranged from an environmental technician at the Municipality of Aksum to a lecturer and researcher at Adigrat University. At Adigrat University, he has not only taught various environmental courses but also led significant research projects and provided capacity-building training. He has also worked part-time as a data collector for Care-Ethiopia, contributing to food emergency assistance efforts.

Tsegay’s research interests are diverse and impactful. He focuses on climate change adaptation and mitigation, environmental and social impact assessment, biodiversity conservation, and sustainable resource management. His work aims to develop innovative solutions to environmental problems, enhance green economy practices, and promote climate-smart agriculture.

Tsegay has received several awards for his academic and professional achievements. He earned a Gold Medal from Wollega University and has been recognized with certificates and motivation letters from Addis Ababa University. Additionally, he won a standard AMS date worth US$595 in a raffle. His dedication to environmental science has also led to his membership in prestigious research groups and environmental associations.
