Paul’s appearance on Hot Ones comes after the star admitted he felt the pressure for his new film to be a blockbuster hit.

Gladiator II follows Lucius Verus (Paul), the former heir to the Roman Empire who is forced into slavery and eventually pushed to fight in the Colosseum in an effort to restore glory.

In a new interview with Variety, Paul spoke about the film, which premiered in London on Wednesday, his love of short shorts and hinted about working with his Normal People co-star Daisy Edgar-Jones.

He said: ‘I do feel the pressure, and I do feel the desire for this to make money. The box office needs a shot in the arm, and if films like Gladiator II aren’t doing it, it would be concerning. So I do feel a responsibility.

Early review from critics have called Gladiator II the ‘best movie of the year’ and a ‘true epic’ as they hailed Paul and Denzel Washington’s performances.

The film is scheduled to be released in the UK on Friday, November 15.

Paul told how there was a scene towards the end of the film where a weary Lucius mounts a horse in hot pursuit of Macrinus.

The actor was keen to do his best for the action-packed moment and the other stunts so ‘trained for fing months’ – before director Ridley Scott changed his mind about the scene.

Paul told the publication: ‘Two weeks before the scene, Ridley says, ‘You’re not fing doing it,’ and I was like, ‘What the fk?,’ and we had this argument.’

Ridley had decided to cut the scene due to some equine advice he had received on another movie

Paul added of the altercation: ‘I was pestering him constantly. And then the day before, he goes, ‘OK, you can do the stunt, but if you come off, it’s two Bentleys.’

And the argument hasn’t affected Paul and Ridley’s bond and the pair seemed closer than ever as they arrived at the London premiere of Gladiator II at Odeon Luxe Leicester Square on Wednesday

Later on in the evening, Paul pulled a series of silly poses alongside the legendary filmmaker, pointing and putting his thumbs up while Ridley sheepishly grinned next to him

He eventually pulled the move off in just a couple of takes.

Why the NRL has ordered teams to use rectal thermometers on stars

The NRL has introduced new guidelines around player safety during pre-season training that includes taking footy player’s temperatures with rectal thermometers if they show signs of distress in the heat.

As NRL teams gear up for the 2025 season and return to the training paddock to get put through their paces, the NRL has introduced new heat check measures.

In 2020, Manly Sea Eagles star Keith Titmuss lost consciousness immediately after a 139-minute training session at the team’s headquarters on Sydney’s northern beaches.

The 20-year-old was ruled to have died of exertional heat stroke (EHS) after an inappropriately difficult training session.

EHS can happen when a player is pushed too hard while training in hot weather, raising their internal or core temperature to a dangerous level.

This can trigger an hyperventilation, vomiting, fainting, seizures, and in some cases, death.

In the United States, EHS is one of the top three leading causes of death in athletes during physical activity.

On Thursday, respected physiotherapist Brien Seeney – who runs the popular NRL Physio Twitter account – posted about the NRL’s new measures around heat checks.

– heat tests must be conducted before every training session
– compulsory cooling breaks in the shade

– player moved into shade & rectal temperature taken if looking ‘worse for wear’

– ice baths recommended method for cooling – can also lie player down on tarp, corners held & cold water/crushed ice poured onto player.’

Experts from America’s respected Mayo Clinic medical centre say ‘rectal temperature is the most accurate way of determining core body temperature and is more accurate than mouth or forehead temperatures’.

The NRL reportedly made enquires last week over its concerns about new Broncos coach Michael Maguire’s tough pre-season training sessions in the oppressive Brisbane heat.

The Broncos have dismissed NRL concerns around new coach Michael Maguire’s grueling start to pre-season training (pictured, anjing Brisbane star Payne Haas at training this month)

Maguire, a notoriously tough trainer, has had his players training in the middle of the day as he tries to lift results at Red Hill.

Players were recently seen sweating it up with vomit buckets near them – but the club says there is nothing to worry about.

‘All our staff are well aware of the new pre-season guidelines,’ Broncos CEO Dave Donaghy told News Corp.

‘In fact, our staff did extra training beyond the NRL requirements to ensure our players would be looked after in the pre-season given the climate in Brisbane. We’re also fortunate to have (former NRL elite performance manager) Troy Thomson on our staff.

‘We test our players in the pre-season, but we also respect the rules and make their safety the utmost priority.’

Pornhub and four other sex websites face being BANNED in France

Five websites hosting sexually explicit content, including Pornhub, may be banned in France for failing to prevent children from accessing their content.

The national media regulator today announced that it had filed a legal complaint against the sites, which in late 2021 were told they needed to bring in a system to stop underage viewers.

Pornhub, the world’s biggest pornography site by user numbers, is targeted as well as Tukif, Xhamster, Xnxx and Xvideos.

Website operations cannot simply ask a user if they are over 18, under a new French law passed in July 2020.

Roch-Olivier Maistre, the head of France’s Arcom media regulator, today told reporters that a case has been filed at a Paris court after operators ignored previous warnings.

Arcom in a statement said: ‘If justice rules in favour, these websites will no longer be accessible from French territory or via addresses registered in France.’

At the end of December, Portugal-based Tukif launched a legal appeal against the crackdown, claiming it was discriminatory because other sites were not included.

The ban, if approved by the court, would see internet operators in France ordered to prevent users from accessing content posted on the websites, Arcom said.

They would instead display a page explaining the restrictions.

When warned by the regulator lanciao in December, Pornhub criticised the watchdog’s decisions, which it said ‘infringe upon the privacy of adults’, according to EURACTIV France.

The site also told the news outlet that the move leaves a majority of the adult industry ‘completely unchecked’.
