Prof. (Dr.) Shailendra Saxena, FRCPATH (UK), is an internationally renowned virologist and immunobiologist. He serves as Vice Dean, Professor, and Head at the Centre for Advanced Research (CFAR), King George’s Medical University (KGMU), Lucknow. His work in infectious diseases, especially on viruses such as Japanese encephalitis, HIV, Zika, and others, has earned him global recognition for his contributions to the development of therapeutic strategies. With multiple roles in prestigious virology societies and as an editor for top journals, Prof. Saxena is a leading figure in the global fight against infectious diseases.
Education:
🎓 Prof. Saxena completed his doctoral studies in Molecular Virology and Immunobiology at King George’s Medical University (KGMU), Lucknow, with a focus on Japanese encephalitis virus (JEV). He has received specialized training in polio virus research under the Global Polio Eradication Program (WHO), as well as in HIV/AIDS at the University of Arizona, Tucson. His expertise also includes biosafety and biosecurity (BSL3 and BSL4), trained across various countries.
